Title battle heating up
The championship’s leading duo are split by just two points. Momentum is with Bulgaria’s Tsolov after his excellent win last weekend in Spielberg, but it was championship leader Mini who followed him home. Both are perhaps operating at the best level they have in their careers so far, and will want to ensure they are at the top of the table at the mid-point of the season.
Mini has a podium appearance in F3 at Silverstone to his name, while Tsolov hasn’t enjoyed the greatest of success at the circuit in previous years.
But this is F2, and the form book can be thrown out the window at any moment.
Championship contenders need to make up ground
Tsolov and Mini have pulled a bit of a gap to some of their rivals in recent rounds, despite a Barcelona win for Rafa Camara and multiple podiums for Alex Dunne. But the lead pair’s sheer consistency is gently shaping it into a private title fight, if this form continues.
It’s important that the likes of Dunne, Camara and Noel Léon bag big points across the Silverstone weekend to make sure the Italian and Bulgarian don’t get too far out of reach.

Can Trident continue their forward momentum
Trident did what they’ve been threatening to do pretty much all year in Austria and returned to the top step of the podium. The Italian team, which endured a miserable 2025 campaign, scoring just two points, but have bounced back in 2026, with podiums for Laurens Van Hoepen and now a Sprint Race win for John Bennett.
The team has been unfortunate in Qualifying in recent rounds, hampering their chances of fighting at the front, but Silverstone could be a more conventional weekend and allow the team to display its improved speed once again.

Lots of overtaking
Silverstone isn’t just exciting because of its fast corners like Copse, Maggots and Becketts. The opening sector and DRS zones provide several opportunities for drivers to pass and re-pass each other, which we’ve seen on many occasions.
Timing your pit stop correctly in the Fetaure Race will be vital as it could leave you scrabbling for grip late on or in a position to press home an advantage.
The weather
The weather patterns are notoriously chaotic. The former airfield site can be windy, and that can see pockets of rain or blazing sunshine arrive and disappear in a matter of minutes.
It’s likely to be very warm on Sunday morning though, as Europe recovers from its recent heatwave.
Managing the Pirelli rubber in that heat, around a circuit that punishes teams and drivers who give their tyres a hard time, might be the key factor in deciding the outcome of both races this weekend.
