F2 in Britain: What we learnt

Tsolov looks unstoppable

It’s looking very hard to make a case for Nikola Tsolov to not end 2026 as the Formula 2 champion. Each of the last four champions have been top of the table at the midway point of the season, before going on to clinch the title.

Tsolov could be further ahead, considering he was wiped out of the Miami Feature Race through no fault of his own and lost points in Barcelona due to a penalty, which was correct by the finest margins.

While we have seen leads eroded before, the Bulgarian has now racked up a record three-straight F2 wins and is looking every inch the red-hot favourite for the title.

Villagomez and VAR finally delivering on promise

If you showed a newcomer to F2 Rafael Villagomez’s weekend in Silverstone, and then told them he had no points until two rounds ago, they probably wouldn’t have believed you.

But that is the case, and finally the Meican and Van Amersfoort are delivering on their potential.

Villagomez has previously shown glimpses of his speed, but this year we’re seeing it on a more regular basis and now it appears he’s finding a way to do it consistently, and is beginning to reap the results it deserves.

Maini and ART continue to thrive

Kush Maini has taken every opportunity to revel in how positive he’s feeling at ART in 2026.

The Indian driver took pole in Maimi and won the Sprint in Barcelona, dominantly.

This was perhaps the most complete weekend and the relationship is showing no signs of thawing – if anything, it might burn hotter and the forward momentum could easily continue. It seems a happy Kush is a fast Kush.
