Aitken & Campos Take First Podium of Season
Jack Aitken took a podium in the Feature Race at his home track.
The visit to the rostrum was both Aitken’s and Campos’ first of the season while Brazilian Guilherme Samaia also showed bursts of competitive lap times throughout the race.
Qualifying saw Aitken post the third-fastest time while his team mate was further adrift of the pole-sitter.
The Feature Race saw Campos met their goals as Aitken was in podium contention, despite dropping to fourth on the first lap. The Anglo-Korean ran virtually in third the whole race, and after everyone had pitted, he was back into third.
Towards the end of the race, Aitken started pushing to attack second-place Christian Lundgaard while keeping Louis Deletraz and Nikita Mazepin at bay.
Aitken put in a faultless drive at his home round to give Campos a podium and some more points towards the championship.
Jack Aitken posted on his Twitter: “Back on the podium baby! P3 after a hard race managing more DRS issues, and funny brakes at the end, but you can’t beat going home stinking of champagne.”
The Sprint Race will see Aitken start sixth on the reverse grid with the podium places insight.
