Alex Dunne has joined Hitech GP for the season opening round of the British F4 Championship at Donington Park.
Dunne has a superb record in various F4 series’ and took two victories in the Formula 4 UAE Championship earlier this year.
The 16-year-old also enjoyed podiums in the extremely competitive Spanish and German F4 Championships in 2021.
He will race alongside some esteemed company at Hitech, initially just for the season opener, and will partner Eduardo Coseteng, Daniel Mavlyutov and Oliver Stewart at the Silverstone based squad.
The Irishman is delighted to be joining Hitech and said: “I’m really happy to be racing with Hitech in British F4 this weekend after a strong start to the year with the team in F4 UAE.
“I look forward to building on that together. Even though the tracks in the UK are new to me, we’ve shown some promising pace in testing!”
He entered three of the four official test days over the winter and set the fastest time on two of those outings at Brands Hatch and Snetterton which should help him acclimatise at Donington.
Dunne’s arrival gives Hitech GP and the Team Manager Dominic Stott a chance to build on their progress made with the brand new Tatuus T-421 car during pre-season.
“We are excited to welcome Alex onboard this weekend at Donington in the opening round of British F4,” said Stott.
“He showed strong pace in F4 UAE over the winter months as we got to grips with the new generation car. Hopefully we can pick up where we left off and have a good weekend.”
Hitech GP’s new recruit has become the 16th confirmed driver on the grid alongside a trio of Formula 1 juniors for the 30-race season.
British F4 will race on 10 different circuits including Silverstone, Thruxton and Knockhill in one of the world’s most competitive, exciting championships.
