FIA Formula 2 returns from the summer break with Campos Racing fielding a wholly changed driver pairing at Round 11 of the 2022 F2 season in Belgium.

For Round 10 in Hungary, the Spanish team had Roberto Merhi and Olli Caldwell in the seats of their cars, but with Merhi honouring SuperGT commitments, Swiss driver Ralph Boschung returns from injury.

Boschung will be paired with Lirim Zendelli, who deputises for the banned Olli Caldwell, who has accrued 12 penalty points on his super-license, which triggered a race ban.

Team Principal Adrian Campos said of the returning Boschung: “We are pleased to have Ralph back in his MoonMobile Dallara. If he feels well physically, I have no doubts he will fight for good results.”

And speaking about Caldwell’s replacement, Campos said: “Lirim comes in his place and I wish him a very good weekend, we know he has been out for a year but we hope he will have a quick adaptation to the car and I think that with all the support of the team we can have a good weekend together.”

Boschung has struggled with facet joint syndrome in his neck since Imola and has pulled out of multiple race weekends before sidelining himself completely ahead of Round 8 in Austria.

Speaking ahead of his return to the cockpit, the 24-year-old said: It’s good to be back. It’s been the toughest times of my career lately but I’m happy I can try to race again in Spa.

“Of course, I will know once I drive how the neck will react so I will remain cautiously optimistic”

Zendeli, 22, who drove in F2 for MP Motorsport in 2021 said: “Spa has been good to me last time I drove there in Formula 3 winning the feature race.

“Taking over the keys from Olli Caldwell will be a big challenge but I will try my best to find the limits again as soon as possible. I also want to thank Olli and Campos Racing for their trust in me and I’ll give it my all to return it in good results.”

Campos are ninth in the Team Standings with 57-points, three ahead of Trident.
