British-Swedish F2 driver Arvid Lindblad confirms that he has graduated to Formula One and will be joining the Red Bull’s sister team, Racing Bulls, in 2026.
It was announced on Tuesday afternoon that Lindblad, who is currently 6th in the standings for the 2025 F2 season, will race alongside New Zealander Liam Lawson next year as other former F2 driver, Isack Hadjar, is promoted to join Max Verstappen at Red Bull Racing.
The Campos Racing driver has had a brilliant rookie season in F2 so far, even achieving a win in the Jeddah Sprint Race on the Saturday and the Barcelona Feature Rave on the Sunday. His expertise also extends to taking the Formula Regional Oceania title with a handful of wins and podiums with M2 Competition. With only one race left at the Yas Marina circuit in Abu Dhabi, Lindblad seems to have proved he is capable of getting a seat in the top series.
The 18 year old has been part of the Red Bull Junior programme for 4 years. With the future of the Red Bull family looking as if it would make some big changes, Helmut Marko, Red Bull advisor, suggested last year that Lindblad “looks really promising”, ultimately landing him the chance to participate in the British and Mexico City F1 Practice sessions that further increased his graduation hopes. But only time will tell how well he will perform in an F1 car.
Lindblad explained: “I’d like to thank everyone at VCARB for the opportunity. Since I started this journey at five years old, it was always my goal to be in Formula 1 so it’s a proud moment to take this step.”
