Arvid Lindblad delighted the local fans by topping the timesheets in F2 Free Practice at the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya, giving home outfit Campos Racing the perfect start to their weekend.
The British driver made the most of a quiet track to post a 1:27.147, the fastest time of the session and over two tenths clear of his nearest rival. Rodin Motorsport’s Alexander Dunne slotted into second, while Gabriele Minì continued his consistent form to round out the top three for PREMA Racing.
Many drivers opted to stay in the garage during the early stages of the 45-minute session, with MP Motorsport’s Richard Verschoor initially setting the pace on a 1:28.044. That was quickly beaten by Dunne, who set a 1:27.425 on his second flying lap, with Minì close behind.
But as the majority returned to the pits, Campos sent out both of their drivers—and Lindblad duly delivered. The rookie capitalised on the clear air to set his session-topping lap, while team-mate Josep MarÃa Martà ended the session in 14th at his home event.
With track conditions evolving but tyre degradation playing a key role, the leaderboard remained largely unchanged in the final moments. Verschoor held on to fourth, ahead of Kush Maini for DAMS Lucas Oil. ART Grand Prix duo Ritomo Miyata and Victor Martins followed in sixth and seventh respectively, while Invicta Racing’s Leonardo Fornaroli edged out Dino Beganovic and Oliver Goethe to complete the top ten.
