FIA Formula 3 driver Hugh Barter looks to build on his experience heading into Round 7 at the famous Silverstone Circuit.
Last time out, Hugh secured 8th in the Sunday Feature Race and thus claimed his first points finish in FIA F3, having turned 19th into 8th.
Barter was happy with to finally turn the corner on some challenging opening rounds and thinks the calendar should help build some consistency.
“For sure it adds to the confidence coming into this round, especially as it’s back to back, so will be good to carry that momentum”
Looking ahead to this week we asked Hugh what he makes of Silverstone with it being such a long lap and how it may work for him with high-speed corners and plenty of opportunity for lap time on the brakes.
“Silverstone would have to be one of the most technical circuits on the calendar it’s full of combination corners so it’s very important to be able to find the right compromise between them more than anything.”
Silverstone is a high speed and with the forecast looking warm, there could be some challenges ahead for the whole grid managing the load on the types.
In modern motorsport high speed is normally preceded by a long straight and DRS opportunity. We asked Hugh what he thinks the strategy might be for his weekend.
“Tyre management will be crucial as always. I’d say less than it was at Austria as we are running on a harder compound.”
“Passing can be quite difficult here with lots of high speed corners so it can be tricky to follow, but that doesn’t mean you can’t!”
We look forward to the FIA Formula 3 drivers battling it out on Saturday and Sunday 8-9 March in one of the worlds most iconic venues.
