Oliver Bearman, the PREMA rookie, had a storming first FIA Formula 2 weekend in Azerbaijan.
He took the sweep this weekend finishing first in practice, qualifying, Sprint Race and now the Feature Race.
However, the Brit is not saying it has been easy, “from the outside it might have looked a bit easy, but it’s never easy, especially at this track.”
He had to fight for the Feature Race win with other drivers closing up behind him, mostly Pourchaire who had overtaken him at one point.
“It is super difficult especially with a lot of pressure behind, like at the start when I had Pourchaire pushing a lot. However, I knew what to do when he passed me and I fought back.”
The Ferrari Driver Academy driver now has more confidence as the F2 season heads into the European circuits where he knows the tracks a bit better.
“Got this great result which gives me a lot of confidence heading into the European rounds where I know the tracks. That is going to help me a bit so I’m looking forward to heading over there. Let’s keep this up.”
It’s clear this fantastic weekend has given the PREMA driver more confidence and it is exciting to see what he will be able to do when F2 returns in Imola.
