Starting from pole in today’s Feature Race in Imola, Dino Beganovic leaves the weekend still feeling positive, despite finishing third behind Hitech team mate Luke Browning.
With a great launch off the line, Beganovic got away in the lead. He started on the front row alone after Prema’s Sebastian Montoya failed to get away for the formation lap.
By Lap 6 the top 3 were all within a second of each other with DRS.
The leading three drivers jumped into the pits one lap later and Beganovic had lots of moves to make to reclaim his step on the podium.
Speaking to InsideF2 in the post race press conference, the Ferrari junior admitted:
“I mean it was not the easiest race, I think we did a good job in general.” Adding, “The option tyre seemed quite strong and I was happy and the guys had a great pit stop.
“So in general I felt pretty good during the race as well as managing my primes but in the end we picked up the podium and the points and we move into the triple header with some good points.”
When speaking on how the tough the race was for him he said, “I think decision making was key today, who to keep in DRS and who not to.
“A lot of things to keep in my head when racing.” Beganovic spoke when reflecting on his performance.
“A different race, something I’ve never experienced before but some good experience for the future.”
Finishing he spoke ahead of the second round of the triple header in Monaco and said, “Monaco being one of my favourite tracks of the calendar, I can’t wait the go back there.”
