Ralph Boschung put a smile on many Formula 2 fans faces after achieving a double podium over the course of the Bahrain weekend.
After 96 race starts in the series, Boschung finally stood on the top step of the podium. He dominated Saturday’s Sprint Race with a lights to flag victory.
It was also Campos’ first win since Jack Aitken in 2019. The team look in a much better position this year after a double podium from Boschung and a strong fourth place finish from rookie, Kush Maini in the Feature Race.
Boschung spoke to the media after the Feature Race on Sunday with a lot of positive words about his weekend and his team:
“Finished second in the Feature Race, just incredible winning the race yesterday and finishing second today from 10th. It was incredible. We gambled with the alternative strategy, we started on the options [tyre] on the first lap.
The car was just incredible, credits to the team I am so happy for them and let’s keep pushing”
He overcame a neck injury last year which forced him to miss a few rounds in the European season. He has also struggled with financial support throughout his feeder series career so to achieve a win in Formula 2 is definitely deserved after all of his hard work to compete in the championship.
