Following a neck injury after Free Practice on Friday, Ralph Boschung has been forced to withdraw from this weekend’s round in Spain in Formula 2.
The announcement was made shortly before qualifying on Friday afternoon due to an injury that was sustained last time out in Imola a few weeks ago.
Since the decision was taken after practice, Campos will only compete with one car this weekend for their home race.
In a statement to the media, Boschung explained, “I’m really disappointed not to be able to drive this weekend. We had a strong round at Imola and I was hoping to continue our momentum in Barcelona. I’ve tried everything with my medical team to recover to full fitness and be on top of my game here, but
after a few laps on track yesterday I knew it would not be possible…”
So far, he has had a great season despite facing a couple of occasions of bad luck. He currently stands sixth in the Drivers’ Championship after a well-earned podium last round.
All of us at InsideF2 wish Ralph a speedy recovery. We hope we can see him return to Monaco next weekend where he had one of the best weekends of his career last year!
