Louis Sharp extended his British F4 Championship lead over Hitech’s Will Macintyre after taking a dominant win in Race 1 at Brands Hatch.

The Rodin Carlin driver holds a 13-point advantage over his nearest rival and said to insideF2: “It’s been a really good start to the weekend.

“We got the double pole this morning in Quali and then followed that up with a race win. Yeah, really, really happy with the result.

“Will was third, so he’s still got decent points, but we do have a few points on him now, which is cool, and it gives us, I guess it’s a good place to be heading into tomorrow.”

Post Quali Interviews:

Post Race Interview with Louis Sharp:

The New Zealander led off the line from pole position and discussed the importance of leading into Paddock Hill on the opening lap.

“I knew I needed a good start. I had Deagen [Fairclough] behind me, who’s normally pretty good off the line, and no, he was really quick throughout the whole race, so I knew I needed to get a good start with how hard it is to pass.

“I knew if I was leading after the first or so, it probably would have been difficult for anyone to get by unless I made a mistake.”

Macintyre qualified in third behind his title rival, Sharp, who took pole. The British driver remained calm after qualifying despite losing ground in the title battle.

“I think we’ve still got the hard part to come, three races. We’re just a bit unlucky in qualifying.

“I think we certainly had the pace to go pole by far, and we got a bit unlucky with track positioning. People were going off and yellow flags and red flags.

“Just in the wrong place, wrong time for everything. To be honest, I was surprised to get P3, but race-able from there.

Isaac Barashi starts at the front for the reverse grid race ahead of Josh Irfan, as the title contenders Sharp and Macintyre share the back row of the grid.

Race 3, the year’s final event, will see Sharp leading the field from pole position ahead of Fairclough and Macintyre. is your home for Formula 2
