Louis Sharp said “It all seems surreal to be fair” after he won the British F4 Championship at Brands Hatch for Rodin Carlin.

The New Zealander took second place in the final race of the season and prevailed over Hitech’s Will Macintyre after a season-long duel.

Sharp said: “It all seems surreal to be fair. I still really can’t believe it happened. It’s been a crazy year. It’s been so close, been so competitive.

“We’ve had a lot of highs, but a lot of lows as well. But I guess in the end to get this result just shows that all the hard work and sacrifice has paid off. So I’m really, really pleased for everyone.”

The Kiwi took six victories over the 30-race campaign and said to insideF2 that all the difficult moments made the British F4 title even more special.

“I think it just shows that all the hard times and all the sacrifices just has paid off. Like I said, I just can’t thank everyone [enough], especially Rodin Cars as well.

“David Dicker, he’s been so good to me. He’s the reason I’m here. So if it wasn’t for him, none of this would be possible. So I’ve got to give a big thank you to him.”

British driver Deagen Fairclough took the win in Race 3 at Brands Hatch for JHR Developments ahead of the two title rivals.

He said: “What an end. Local track and I’m just over the moon. It’s gone by so quick and I’m gutted it’s over, but what a way to end it.

“The final race of the F4 season is ours on the top step. I’m dedicating it towards Rokit. They’ve got me to this position and I’m so, so lucky to actually be here today.

“With the weekend, JHR have done a fantastic job to give me a really fast car this weekend.

“We’ve been able to show our potential and prove everyone what we’re worth. Everyone behind the scenes have just been brilliant. I’m so grateful for the help and the amount I’ve learned this year.”

The driver who finished third in the standings outlined his plans for the near future: “A lot of training. A lot of training for whatever comes along next season. A lot of training, a lot of family time as well.

“Actually soon going to the F1 Grand Prix in Texas. That’s going to be exciting because we won tickets there. Spend some nice family time out there.” is your home for Formula 2
