Hitech TGR’s Luke Browning says he felt he could have come away with more than just a podium from Round 2 of the 2025 FIA Formula 2 championship.
The Williams Academy driver finished second to Rodin’s Alex Dunne in Sunday’s Feature Race, but failed to score in Saturday’s chaotic Sprint Race.
Browning declared himself “happy” with his weekend, but said he believed more could have been achieved.
“I think we did a fantastic job with the strategy that we had,” the 23-year-old said, saying he thought it was going to be a difficult weekend in Sakhir after the performances during in-season testing at the circuit.
However, he felt the Feature Race victory was out of reach: “Had we gone with the other strategy, I don’t think it would have worked either.
“We had some clutch issues throughout the whole weekend, which hampered our start.”
The clutch issue meant he fell to around 15th by Turn 1 in the Sprint Race and, whilst starting on the harder compound tyre in the Feature Race, falling to P10 on Sunday, before coming back through to second.
Browning said he hoped the technical issues would be fixed in time for Round 3 in Jeddah.

He praised his Hitech TGR team for doing a “fantastic job”, especially after he drove for Williams during the first practice session on Friday.
Browning thanked Williams and their Team Principal, James Vowles, for their support.
“It’s nice to feel that James and the Williams Driver Academy are properly behind me, but not only that, I feel that everyone around me at the moment, they have complete faith in my ability and I share that confidence with them. It’s nice to hop in everything and be there.
“I am just driving confidently at the moment.”
