Campos Racing’s Olli Caldwell heads into Round 8 of the 2022 FIA Formula 2 Championship with his sights set on “positive achievements” at the Red Bull Ring in Austria.
The Briton, who has yet to score in his first full F2 season, wants to build on the good Formula 3 results he scored in 2021, while racing for PREMA.
“(I’m) really excited to be heading to Austria this weekend. I had good results there last year in F3, so will hope to get some positive achievements on my return there in F2,” the 20-year-old said.
Caldwell finished two of the three FIA Formula 3 races in Spielberg on the podium last year, on his way to eighth in the championship.
The Briton will be joined by Roberto Merhi at the Campos team this weekend, who is replacing the injured Ralph Boschung, as the Swiss aims to fully heal his neck injury.
Campos Team Principal Adrián Campos Jr said: “I really hope that Olli can finally make it into the points, a goal that surely he deserves according to his efforts and performances.”
It will be tough to make the points places, which are the top eight in the Sprint Race and top 10 in the Feature Race, due to the closely packed nature of lap times around the 10 turn Red Bull Ring.
However, Caldwell will be drawing on his experience: “It’s a track I know well and enjoy driving at.”
Caldwell is 21st in the drivers’ standings, alongside Charouz driver Cem Bölükbas? and VAR’s Amaury Cordeel, who are also yet to score points this season.
