Campos Racing heads into Zandvoort “fighting to put themselves in contention for more points-paying finishes” as the team pushes forward into the final stages of the 2023 FIA Formula 2 season.
The Spanish team arrives in The Netherlands off the back of a double-points scoring finish in Belgium, rookie Kush Maini and Ralph Boschung are looking to continue their scintillating form before the summer break and keep up their points-scoring streak this weekend.
Currently, Kush Maini finds himself P11 in the standings with 56 points after an impressive first season in FIA Formula 2, teammate Ralph Boschung is further adrift on 35 points, the majority of those points being scored after his superb drive in the opening rounds of the season at Bahrain. The Swiss driver racked up 28 points after his Sprint Race victory and his P2 finish in the Feature Race.
It’s been an upstep in performance this season for Campos Racing compared to their troubled 2022 campaign, with current driver Ralph Boschung suffering from a neck injury that forced him to be sidelined for several races during the season.
This time last year the team had 63 points to their name in 2022, going on to finish the season P11 in the Constructors Championship with 67 points. Comparing that to their current P8 position in the standings and their 91-points haul this season, it’s an impressive and positive step up for the Spanish outfit.
Going into the weekend Kush Maini, Ralph Boschung and Adrian Campos, Team Principal of Campos Racing spoke about the challenges of the Zandvoort circuit, the weather forecast and some of the team aims for this weekend:
Adrián Campos: “We head back into the fray after the summer break.”
“Despite it was a well-deserved rest time, we continued working for the final part of the season at Zandvoort, Monza and Yas Marina.”
“Zandvoort is a very technical circuit from a driver’s point of view. This said, we made it into the points last year and we are ready to continue in the same way this weekend.”
Ralph Boschung: “I’m looking forward to being back driving. Zandvoort is a very challenging track.”
“We are sure we can further improve in comparison with our performance last year. It looks like we could get some wet weather, so it may mix up things a bit.”
“I’m pretty confident that we are able to fight for points again like we did in Spa. I managed to slowly come back to the pace and Zandvoort will be another exciting weekend.”
Kush Maini: “I had a nice summer break but eager now to get back on track, (the) team and I have worked hard on the sim and hoping to be fighting for the top spots at Zandvoort.”
