Trevor Carlin is excited for Logan Sargeant’s debut for his team, in what will be the American driver’s first season in FIA Formula 2.
As the director of Carlin Motorsport, Trevor Carlin has worked with many talented drivers over the years, who have enjoyed very successful careers. InsideF2 editor L.A. Wilshaw asked Trevor about how rookie Logan Sargeant fits into what he looks for in a driver.
“All drivers are different in their own ways. We look for someone with a bit of passion. We’ve known Logan since he started racing in Formula 4 so he is a friend of the team, and we know how fast he his, so we’re really happy to have him on board.”
Sargeant finished seventh in the FIA Formula 3 Championship last season, with one win and four podiums to his name. However, Trevor Carlin is thrilled by more than just his stats:
“I’m most excited about his phenomenal racecraft. He is one of the strongest and toughest I’ve ever seen. Sometimes he went over the mark a little bit last year, but the rest of the time he’s a super fighter. We love motor racing, and when you see a real racing driver fighting and battling, that’s what we like to enjoy watching.”
Carlin will feature an all-new lineup for this season, with Sargeant joined by Liam Lawson, who took one win and three podiums on his way to a ninth-placed finish in the F2 Championship standings.
The New Zealander moves to Carlin from Hitech Grand Prix, where he demonstrated his own wheel-to-wheel racing prowess on several occasions. The British team hope that both of their new drivers can deliver this season, and make best use of their racing talent.
