Colapinto Happy to Recover Points After DRS Failure

Argentine driver Franco Colapinto say he’s happy to have scored points on his debut weekend in FIA Formula 2 in Bahrain.

The F3 graduate, finished sixth in Saturday’s Feature Race, earning himself and his MP Motorsport team eight points.

Colapinto finished Saturday’s race ahead of his more experienced team mate Dennis Hauger.

Writing on his X account, formerly known as Twitter, the 20-year-old said: “[I am] happy with today’s race!

“We came back and added positive points after a weekend that had started very complicated due to my mistake in qualifying.”

In the post, written in Spanish, the Williams Academy driver revealed a DRS issue hindered his qualifying, leaving him 15th fastest.

In Friday’s Sprint Race, Colapinto was unable to move forward, finishing a lowly P18, before enjoying a much stronger Saturday race.

Colapinto declared himself happy with the pace and thanked his supporters in a follow-up post.
