Juan Manuel Correa returns to Zandvoort this weekend after previously competing at the circuit in F3 and getting his first podium in 2022.
Ahead of his team’s home race this weekend he caught up with InsideF2 to chat about what to expect at the Dutch GP.
“It’s exciting to be back Zandvoort, It’s the team’s home race. It’s a special weekend and I also love this track. I had my first podium last year in F3 which was really cool!”
Many teams and drivers feel as if the summer break came at a good time, Correa included saying,
“The summer break was much needed. I had some rest and I feel pretty recharged and ready for the challenge this weekend.”
The VAR driver had a difficult round 11 at Spa, he felt disappointed following a ninth-placed finish in the Feature Race in Hungary.
“I have a big regret about my weekend at Spa, I think it was a terrible weekend, to be honest, I messed up with was was terrible with no push laps, and then the whole weekend was pretty much done after. Budapest on the other hand was a good weekend so I was carrying momentum and I wanted to build on that but couldn’t.”
Having only driven the F3 car around Zandvoort this is a new challenge for the American especially as there are wet conditions currently forecasted across the weekend.
“I think the F2 around this track will be even harder than it was in F3. It’s a bigger car, the other drivers here from last year said that it’s physically very challenging. The weather might make it more complicated for us so we’re just going to try to adapt to whatever comes and make every lap count.”
We will see if Correa can grab another podium at Zandvoort when F2 returns this weekend.
