Crawford And Correa Resilient After Poor Qualifying In Spielberg for DAMs

DAMS Lucas Oil show strong race pace to secure points in both races in Austria

Despite struggling in qualifying, Jak Crawford performed well in both the Formula 2 Sprint and Feature Races in Austria last weekend. He finished sixth in the Sprint Race and 10th in the Feature Race.

’’I felt great in all the sessions this weekend, apart from qualifying, and was delighted with the performance across both races to pick up further points”

Crawford is only nine points behind Zane Maloney and Franco Colapinto in the Formula 2 standings. Overtaking the Sauber and Williams juniors would move him into the top 5 of the championship and give him belief that he can finish in the top 3 at the end of the F2 season.

Juan Manuel Correa gained three positions in the Sprint Race and five on Sunday. He was self-critical of the penalty he received for crossing the line whilst entering the pits during the Feature Race, however he felt he had otherwise done well in the race.

‘’The Feature Race was my strongest event of the weekend, and I’m frustrated to have picked up the penalty for going across the white line on pit entry, which cost us the points finish’’

Correa also believes him and Crawford should do well during the remainder of the season.

‘’once again we showed that we’ve got solid race pace which leaves us feeling confident moving forward’’
