Jak Crawford’s Sprint Race in Barcelona came to a premature end after a racing incident between himself and race winner, Frederik Vesti.
Vesti tried to overtake the young American driver but the two made contact at Turn 1. Although the contact was light, it was enough to cause a puncture and suspension damage which ended his race.
InsideF2 Editor and motorsport journalist, Jim Kimberley spoke to Crawford soon after the Sprint Race to get his thoughts on the incident:
“It’s just an unfortunate situation- just a racing incident where a small touch ended my race. I mean, at the end of the day, we lost some points but we have a Feature Race tomorrow and I think we can do well.”
He was quick to defend Vesti and the steward’s decision not to investigate further.
“At the end of the day, it’s 50/50, racing in the wet. I mean from my side, I didn’t feel like I had enough space but you can’t really penalise that”
Tomorrow, Crawford will start from ninth in the all important Feature Race where more points are available.
