FIA Formula 2 driver, Jehan Daruvala, is showing confidence in his PREMA car, as he reflects on his increasing pace, that helped him jump onto the second step in Monte Carlo.
The nature of the tricky street circuit meant Daruvala struggled to pass his team mate, Dennis Hauger, who went on to win his maiden Formula 2 race, in the Principality:
“I think on pace I’ve been pretty much ahead of him all the weekends. In Monaco, you can’t really overtake.”
Knowing he couldn’t take maximum points from the race, Daruvala, tried for the next best thing:
“A lot of us know there’s points for fastest lap. I was in second, and you know you can’t win there, so there’s nothing you can do except use the tyres for the extra points for fastest lap.”
Finishing over five seconds behind his team mate, the India driver described how he’d used up his tyres on his attempt to grab the point for being the quickest:
“I think the whole field is pretty much, push, cool, cool, push, cool.
“I did it for three or four laps, tried to go for the fastest lap, it didn’t really work out.”
