Daruvala joins MP Motorsport in FIA Formula 2

- FIA Formula 2 News

Jehan Daruvala has signed with last year’s title-winning team MP Motorsport for his fourth FIA Formula 2 campaign.

The 24-year-old stood on the podium seven times in 2022 and scored a superb victory in the Feature Race at Monza.

Daruvala will be joined at the Dutch outfit by his PREMA team mate from last season, Norwegian Red Bull Junior Team driver Dennis Hauger.

The Indian driver is delighted to be returning to F2 and is hoping to utilise his and Hauger’s vast experience to battle for more victories.

“I’m really pleased to be back in FIA Formula 2, and to be able to team up with MP Motorsport makes it extra special”, said Daruvala.

“Together with Dennis, I’m confident that our combined experience and speed will contribute to MP fighting for wins once again.

The former Red Bull Junior admitted he was amazed by the teams impeccable speed at the front of the field.

“Last year, I was stunned by MP’s remarkably consistent front-running pace, and in 2023 I hope to be the beneficiary of that myself!

“I really enjoyed working with the team in the post-season test and look forward to 2023 testing and the season that lies ahead.”

MP Motorsport’s team principal Sander Dorsman is very happy to have Daruvala joining the team for the upcoming season and valued his experience.

“We are delighted to welcome Jehan to our FIA F2 team”, said Dorsman.

“He has been a consistent frontrunner right from his debut in the category, taking wins in every F2 season he has competed in.

“His experience will be of great value to the team, so we are very much aiming for a repeat of last year’s form.

He asserted that the new driver lineup of Daruvala and Hauger will allow the team to continue having a harmonious atmosphere.

“Also, matching him up with Dennis will allow us to build on a smooth cooperation between teammates who already know each other well. With such a strong driver pairing for 2023, I can’t wait to go racing!”
