Carlin had a better weekend last time out in Styria in Formula 2, with their Japanese driver Yuki Tsunoda again making all the headlines with his impressive performance’s in Styria.
His team mate is yet to score points on his debut season in Formula 2 but don’t count him out just yet.
The Indian driver is clearly looking forward to this weekend, “I think it’s one of the best circuits on the calendar, a lot of corners, interesting, quite narrow as well,” enthuses Daruvala. “Qualifying of course is going to be very important.”
“From how things look, tyre deg does not seem to be as serious as we expected going from the last couple of rounds so it’s probably going to be a lot to do with Qualifying and getting off the line well.”
“We know that our pace is quite strong, I have to concentrate on my starts and getting the weekend together really,” he stated.
Reflecting on his season so far and in-particular the last round Daruvala said: “It started off quite well in practice, both of us were quite up there. Then in qualifying the car was also quite good and it was all so very close at the front so I was only a couple of tenths off pole but ended up seventh fastest.”
Weighing up the package at his disposal Daruvala will hope to match his counter-part and show the potential that saw him as a front runner with Shwartzman and Armstrong last year in Formula 3.
“So, I think that the pace we have is quite strong, I just need to focus more on my starts and get the weekend together really.”
