Jehan Daruvala believed he and Prema Racing could have been in the top three of qualifying in the third round of the FIA Formula 2 Championship.
Daruvala Qualified in eighth place, during a wet session at Imola. However, it seemed it could have been better for the Indian if he had not had a spin in his final lap attempt.
After the session, Daruvala spoke on the challenging conditions and how this was affecting the team:
“Tricky qualifying with the weather, but in general I think we had good pace. I was improving in the second lap and we were quite strong.
“It’s tough to tell, we have to look at the data, but I think top-3 was definitely possible, I was third after the first lap.”
Daruvala showed optimism with his starting positions for the two races this weekend, believing he can score good points in Imola:
“The car was strong I just pushed a bit too much and made a mistake. A bit frustrating, but in the end, the weekend is not over. We start third tomorrow and eighth on Sunday, we can score good points.”
The Red Bull junior has had a strong start to his season, with a podium each weekend and he will be hoping with a third-place start in the sprint race he can continue this trend with Prema Racing.
Daruvala showcased his talent last season in F2 and if his form continues this weekend in Imola he will be hoping the Formula 1 bosses will have their eyes on him.
