Jehan Daruvala says he has to be further up the grid at Spa after a point-less weekend for the Indian driver at the Hungaroring.
Daruvala and his PREMA team mate Dennis Hauger suffered disappointing results in Hungary scoring zero points for the Italian team.
After the summer break Formula 2 will launch into a demanding triple header of European races starting at Spa in Belgium.
The Red Bull Junior said: “We have three weeks now before Spa, we need to be back fighting at the front.”
He has performed well at Spa in the past scoring a pole position and a podium in FIA F3 prior to stepping up to Formula 2.
The 23-year-old also explained that his opening lap was lacklustre in Hungary as he ran wide at Turn 2 while racing in the midfield but the Feature Race was superior to Saturday’s Sprint Race.
He said: “I think it was not an easy race, the first lap was not the best as I went wide in turn 2 while fighting and I was P15.
“Considering the pace we had, we finished in P11, we tried to box and undercut but overall, while better compared to yesterday, we have a lack of all-around pace.
Daruvala currently sits fifth in the championship after scoring six podiums throughout his third F2 campaign.
