As eventful as the FIA Formula 2 Feature Race was, it was certainly not the most enjoyable for PREMA’s Jehan Daruvala.
Struggling during the qualifying on Friday, he managed to finish P9 as the session came to an end. This meant that he would be able to start P2 for the Sprint Race on Saturday. However, an issue with his car meant he had to retire from the race even before it began.
“Not the best of weekends,” Jehan lamented on his bad luck. “Qualifying was OK, still didn’t quite have the outright pace on the softs so ended up 9th.”
“So that was a P2 to start the first race. Unfortunately, even before making it to the grid for the Sprint Race, I had a failure with the fuel pump so I did not even start that one.”
During the Feature Race, a contact in Turn 1 left him with damage to his front wing. He was eventually shown the black and orange which meant that the Red Bull Junior driver had to pit for repairs. This hampered his race and sent him to the back of the grid.
“Today was a struggle, I was struggling on the options, then got kicked out and had to change my wing, before the mandatory stop,” said Jehan. “So had to take 2 pit stops and that left us at the back so definitely not an easy day and not an easy weekend.
“Let’s hope for a better one at Zandvoort,” Daruvala concluded on a difficult note.
