FIA Formula 2 team HWA Racelab have announced both Matteo Nannini and Alessio Deledda will join them for the 2021 season.
Alessio Deledda, who has only had three seasons of car racing under his belt will make the move to Formula 2 after two seasons in Formula 3 with Campos.
“FIA Formula 2 is a new experience that I have been waiting for years, I am excited to be participating in such a competitive championship and testing my skills. I am sure that, together with a team rich in experience like HWA, we will be able to grow together on this journey that awaits us.”
Deledda will be joined by countryman Matteo Nannini who will also race for HWA Racelab in Formula 3 due to both series’s not being held on the same weekend for the first time.
Nannini will be one of the youngest drivers on the Formula 2 grid next year as the seventeen-years-old makes the step up from Formula 3.
He endured an average rookie season in Formula 3, where he only scored points at the Barcelona meeting with tenth in the Feature and third in the Sprint leaving him eighteenth in the final driver’s standings. He though will be positive and hoping that this opportunity maximizes his potential.
“I am really looking forward to such a busy season, 45 races in 2021 are going to be demanding, but I feel ready and determined to grow as a driver, having the opportunity to race in both FIA F2 and F3.
“It will be my first year in Formula 2. I know it will not be easy, but I am willing to learn as much as possible.”
