The FIA Formula 3 reigning champion Dennis Hauger shares his first F2 experience on the pre-season test weekend in Bahrain with PREMA Racing.
Continuing his work with the Italian team after winning the title in F3 last year, Hauger proveed himself with consistent results during the three-day testing running inside the top 10 in all three-morning sessions.
Despite not being able to drive on the final afternoon session due to a sand storm, Hauger believes it was enough to make a good step.
He said, “Three days of testing done. It was very productive with some long runs and getting the feel for both prime and option tyres.”
“I made a good step in driving this week, and I’m building up that confidence all the way.”
Post-test, he feels more comfortable with the car, expecting to develop his understanding of the new car, in Day 1, he was 0.528 of a second behind his teammate, Jehan Daruvala.
Filling Oscar Piastri’s shoes in the team, the Norwegian openly admitted that he hasn’t set up any targets for his debut in F2, even though he feels the pressure to be as good as the 2020 F3 and 2021 F2 champion is high.
“I’m looking forward to getting the season started. There are still some things to improve, but we will keep working until it’s race weekend.”
