Disappointment for Schumacher and Ilott after Nurburgring FP1 cancelled!
Formula 2 title contenders Mick Schumacher and Callum Ilott were both left frustrated by the weather at the Nurburgring as FP1 was cancelled.
The pair were set to make their first appearances during a Formula 1 race weekend in Germany, but fog prevented any running.
It was deemed too misty for the medical helicopter to fly, leaving Race Control no other option but to keep the pit exit closed.
Schumacher was set to drive Antonio Giovinazzi’s Alfa Romeo, with Ilott in the Haas of Romain Grosjean.
The two Ferrari juniors are set to battle it out for the Formula 2 title next month, with Schumacher holding a 22-point lead over his rival.
They both have a great chance of moving up to Formula 1 next season, with seats available at both Alfa Romeo and Haas.
Schumacher and Ilott will be hoping to get their chance in Formula 1 machinery at another Grand Prix soon, with the circus travelling to Portimao, Imola and Istanbul Park before Formula 2 returns for the final two weekends of the season in Bahrain.
Fellow Ferrari youngster Robert Shwartzman will get his chance in an FP1 session in Abu Dhabi after a solid debut season in Formula 2.
