Jack Doohan has been disqualified from the Qualifying session today, after being in breach of Article 14.6 of the FIA Formula 2 Technical Regulations.
The race Stewards issued this fact:
“Car 3 did not supply the required 0.8kg of fuel in Parc Fermé after the qualifying session.”
The Australian stormed to P3 in the closing stages of Friday’s Qualifying session, as the last of the late runners benefitted from the track evolution.
The Virtuosi team affirmed that they miscalculated the fuel load because of the unusual nature of the session, with three red flags being issued.
Despite the Stewards acknowledging the team had no ‘intent of wrong-doing’, they still concluded a Technical breach had occurred, and the standard penalty was applied.
The Virtuosi team, of course, have the right to appeal.
This currently means that Marcus Armstrong leaps up to P3, after watching his pole lap slip through his fingers in the closing moments of the session.
