On the first day of in-season testing in Barcelona, Jack Doohan of Invicta Virtuosi Racing showcased his speed by recording the fastest lap time of 1:24.177 in the final hour.

Oliver Bearman and Frederik Vesti from PREMA Racing secured the second and third positions respectively, but they couldn’t surpass the Australian driver who held the top spot throughout the day.

During the morning session, Kush Maini from Campos Racing initially took the lead with a lap time of 1:27.101, but his teammate Ralph Boschung surpassed him with a time of 1:26.277.

However, Doohan quickly emerged as the frontrunner, improving his lap time to 1:26.018 and then 1:25.723. The session experienced a brief interruption due to a red flag caused by Dennis Hauger’s MP Motorsport #1 car getting stuck in the gravel.

Jehan Daruvala took advantage of the remaining time and secured the fastest time with 1:24.955, only to be beaten by Maini who reclaimed the top spot with a lap time of 1:24.943. Boschung also improved his performance and finished in third place, trailing Maini by 0.105 seconds.

In the afternoon session, Trident initially dominated with Clément Novalak leading the pack with a lap time of 1:27.184, followed by his teammate Roman Stanek. However, Bearman from Invicta Virtuosi Racing set the fastest time of 1:26.860, taking the lead.

Enzo Fittipaldi of Rodin Carlin briefly claimed the top position with a time of 1:26.642, but the session was interrupted by a red flag when Zane Maloney, Fittipaldi’s teammate, spun and stopped on the track.

After the session resumed, Ayumu Iwasa from DAMS secured the top spot with a lap time of 1:26.582. Fittipaldi came close with a time only 0.007 seconds slower than Iwasa’s, while Amaury Cordeel took the third position, trailing Iwasa by 0.027 seconds.

With a little over an hour remaining, Frederik Vesti from PREMA Racing reclaimed the top spot with a time of 1:26.110. However, Isack Hadjar surpassed him with a time of 1:25.459. Fittipaldi became the first driver to break into the 1:24s in the afternoon, and shortly after, Doohan joined him with a lap time of 1:24.486, securing the fastest position with a comfortable lead.

In the final 15 minutes, Bearman improved his performance and climbed to second place with a time of 1:24.624, while Vesti secured the second and third positions for PREMA Racing.
