FIA Formula 2’s Felipe Drugovich is looking forward to this weekend at the Red Bull Ring in Austria, and thinks the track is awesome. Not only because of the high speed nature of the circuit, but because of the location, in the stunning Spielberg mountains.
Still leading the Championship by 42 points the MP Motorsport driver appears relaxed and confident going onto the double-header.
“I think the track is really awesome. I’m really looking forward to the race here. I think the landscape here is very nice first of all. That’s something I really enjoy coming here.
“But talking about the track we expect quite a lot of track limit problems. That’s a usual thing here. A lot of laps get cancelled from Practice and Quali, so I need to be careful with that.”
“It should produce some good races. The DRS zones help out quite a lot with the overtaking, if the DRS train doesn’t exist [lauging].”
Drugovich has won here preciously, with Van Amersfoort Racing in the 2017 Formula 4 Championship, and again in the 2020 F2 Championship, with his current team, MP. This could be one of the reasons for his relaxed demeanour this weekend.
“It should be a really nice track to race on and hopefully there’ll be quite a lot of overtaking.”
The latter part of Drugovich’s statement being a sentiment we all share.
