Felipe Drugovich has had quite the debut in his first Formula 2 season with his team MP Motorsport.
Looking to build on his debut the Brazilian took the headlines for his hot brakes and incredible slow motion footage rather than the podium he would have hoped for.
The feature race was always going to be a challenge given the start behind the safety car but the driver was happy with the speed he and the car had; “Before the pit stop, we had a good pace but i had issues with the brakes. They were too hot, and the problem got worse after the pit stop. Therefore, we lost pace, and we had to wait a bit in the pit stop to try and fix the problem.”
The Sprint Race proved to be a challenge for him and his teammate Matsushita as they mainly battled each other through the race quite a way behind the leading pack.
“We just didn’t have the pace, the start was a mess for me, and both Nobu and I had the same pace after that.”
Looking back at the two rounds Drugovich will still leave the Austrian countryside a happy man as will his team. If you had offered him 21 championship points before the season started he and MP Motorsport would have taken them.
As a rookie in his first FIA Formula 2 season he will need to take the rough with the smooth and be ready for this weekends action; “It was a different race compared to last week, but i did learn a lot.”
