Emerson Fittipaldi Jr. to Join AIX Racing for 2026 Formula 2 Season

Following the eighth round of the FIA Formula 2 Championship, AIX Racing have announced their first driver for the 2026 season: Emerson Fittipaldi Jr.

The 18 year-old Brazilian currently competes in the Eurocup-3 championship with MP Motorsport, where he sits 13th in the standings with one podium and 21 points. There are four rounds left of the eight round Eurocup-3 season, with the next round being in a months time at the Assen Circuit.

Having a family name richly engraved into motorsport history, the son of two-time F1 World Champion Emerson Fittipaldi will be looking to make his mark, similar to nephew Enzo Fittipaldi who competed in Formula 2 from 2021 to 2024, before leaving the series.

Following the announcement, Fittipaldi Jr has said:

“I am very much looking forward to this opportunity. Racing in the FIA Formula 2 is going to be a big learning curve for me. I will be competing against the best drivers in the world, so it will be an honour to be racing against all of them on the race track.

My expectations are, that I will be learning a lot, every single day and every single week.”

Having an impressive debut Eurocup-3 season and a steady start to the 2025 season, the Brazilian will make a leap up the motorsport ladder, skipping Formula 3 like F2-graduate and now Mercedes F1 Driver Andrea Kimi Antonelli.

With the 2026 Formula 2 calendar announced earlier this year, the rookie will have 28 chances to impress and gain experience, in order to show he has what it takes to be the next Brazilian in Formula 1.
