Carlin’s win at Spa makes it 9 out of 11 teams to have won in this year’s FIA Formula 2 season.
InsideF2’s Fraser Ford got the chance to speak to the drivers after this round’s Sprint Race and he asked the winner, Enzo Fittipaldi about the challenges that come with such a competitive series.
Fittipaldi emphasised that this is, “Definitely the most competitive series” that he has competed in. He continued:
“Formula 2 is up and down. You know, it’s easy when everything is going right and then one Safety Car and you’re not on the correct side of the Safety Car pit window and you go from the front all the way to the back and things can change so quickly.
“It’s a very difficult championship to be consistent and consistently up there in the Feature Races… It’s very competitive but I really enjoy it.”
Fittipaldi took his first win of his F2 career in Spa after a late overtake on Richard Verschoor, just two laps from the end.
He sits seventh in the standings with just three rounds remaining of his second season. He’s also the second highest ranked Red Bull Junior driver behind Ayumu Iwasa, a title that is ever important with the driver changes happening at Alpha Tauri.
