Callum Voisin took a step towards the GB3 title on Saturday at Donington Park.

The Rodin Carlin driver followed up a double pole position in qualifying with victory in Race 1 of the weekend.

The British driver was delighted with his efforts at the former Formula 1 venue.

“That’s exactly what we needed. This morning, getting double pole is brilliant, especially around here.

“It’s not the easiest track to overtake. I mean, it’s not really easy anywhere in these cars, but very happy for sure.

“And to end it with a win is not a bad Saturday at all. In front of my main rivals, so very happy.”

Voisin holds a 28 point lead over his nearest rival Alex Dunne ahead of the final two races of the season on Sunday.

Joseph Loake’s title hopes suffered a knock after he slumped to a P10 finish.

The JHR Developments driver made contact with McKenzy Cresswell on the opening lap at Redgate.

Loake now sits 39 points behind leader Voisin with slim title hopes.

The British driver is also a finalist for the Aston Martin Autosport BRDC Young Driver award.

A prize won by some of Britain’s biggest talents such as Lando Norris and Luke Browning.

Loake is eagerly anticipating the final of the competition.

“The Autosport award is the thing I’m really looking forward to now.

“It’s a really big opportunity for me. I think it shows how strong of a season we’ve had.

“At the start of the year, I wasn’t really seen as anything, anyone that could go that far.

“I think it might sound a bit cocky or something like that, but I feel like I’m now one of the drivers that people do look at and go, Maybe you could get somewhere.”

Voisin starts on pole position for Race 2, prior to the full reverse grid race later in the day. is your home for Formula 2
