Gelael taken to hospital after feature race

Sean Gelael has been taken to hospital after today’s feature race at the Circuit De Catalunya in Barcelona.

The Indonesian driver who had to change his front wing from the race stopped on the runoff area at turn 13 on the final lap with his DAMS’ car appeared undamaged as it was stopped on the runoff area.

It later emerged that Gelael had been taken out of his car and taken to Hospital General De Granollers as a precaution.

In a statement, the FIA gave a brief update on Gelael’s condition.

“The FIA advises that an incident occurred during the final lap of the FIA Formula 2 Feature Race today, 15/08/20, in Barcelona, involving car #1, Sean Gelael. The driver was immediately attended to by emergency and medical crews. The driver was extricated by the attending medical crew and has been transferred by ambulance to Hospital General De Granollers for precautionary checks.”
