Daniel Guinchard says the British F4 car is incredibly exciting to drive particularly on a high-speed track such as Brands Hatch.
Guinchard is stepping up from karting after a successful career winning the ADAC Kart Masters – OK Junior and Rotax Max Challenge International Trophy – Junior Max in 2020.
The British driver will race for Argenti Motorsport this year alongside Aiden Neate and Adam Fitzgerald.
Guinchard discussed the thrill of driving the new British F4 car via the British F4 Youtube channel and said: “The adrenaline rush is crazy even in just testing like today especially having other cars around you and especially a track like Brands it’s one of the most special tracks on the calendar so it’s really nice.”
The 15-year-old participated in a pre-season test at the Brands Hatch Indy circuit. He set the seventh quickest time just three tenths slower than Alex Dunne who topped the timesheets.
He is also part of the Mercedes Junior Team and was signed to the Formula 1 world champions after the conclusion of his season in the British karting championships. Guinchard said: “After the end of the British championships last year I got a call from James Vowles from Mercedes and Gwen Lagrue.
“And they started getting in touch with me about joining the programme and then it was announced about a month ago now.
“I think if I didn’t want to win I wouldn’t be a part of this but you know, rookie season just want to keep improving as much as I can and show everyone what I can do in single seaters.”
The 2022 British F4 campaign begins on the 22nd of April at Donington Park. It kicks off a season which visits some of Great Britain’s best circuits including Silverstone, Thruxton and Knockhill.
