The 2021 Formula 3 champion Dennis Hauger had a rollercoaster first campaign in FIA Formula 2 this year, but his strong final round has secured him 10th place in the drivers’ championship.
The Norwegian driver came home in P4 in the Feature Race, finishing what was an overall positive weekend in Abu Dhabi with 17 additional points in the bag.
“I had a good start and got up from P7 to P4 quite early,” commented the Prema driver. “I just stayed in the queue on options , went into the pits and we lost a position unfortunately, but we had the pace to sort to be up there for the podium”.
After pitting on Lap 8 when placed in P5, Hauger found himself in P20 and having to fight back through the field. He charged through and was able to make up the lost ground quickly.
“I still feel that we maximised what we could and I’m happy with P4 from P7.
“We had a decent weekend overall to end the season so I’m happy about that”, the Red Bull Junior Driver concluded.
The final rounds of 2022 were very consistent for Hauger, as his Feature Race finish saw him take his fourth P4 finish in the last five rounds.
Those late-season points helped Hauger to take a final P10 position in the 2022 standings.
