Norwegian driver Dennis Hauger is aiming to end his time at PREMA on a high despite what he calls a “turbulent” season as FIA Formula 2 wraps up the 2022 season in Abu Dhabi.
2021 F3 champion Hauger is moving to MP Motorsport for 2023, who this year took Brazilian driver Felipe Drugovich to the Drivers’ title.
“I’m really looking forward to the last GP of the year, obviously it’s been a turbulent season so far,” said the 19-year-old from Oslo, who has been outperformed by team mate Jehan Daruvala.
The Red Bull Junior Team driver added: “I’m trying to go into the weekend with some relaxed shoulders, to do the best that I can and end the season on a high.”
Hauger has taken two wins this year, the first being the Sprint Race in Monte Carlo, before Jüri Vips’ late accident in Baku handed Hauger his maiden Feature Race victory in F2.
Speaking ahead of the final weekend of the season, the PREMA driver insisted that the first thing to achieve was to get Qualifying “right” and “trying to get off on the right foot from FP (free practice).”
Qualifying has not gone spectacularly well for Hauger in 2022, compared his F3 campaign in 2021, where the Norwegian grabbed three poles on his way to the title.
No poles have arrived in 2022 yet, but the teenager concluded his pre-weekend thoughts by saying: “I have high hopes of doing something good this weekend.”
A good weekend could see Hauger finish in the top 10 in the Drivers’ Standings, with Vips 11-points ahead in P10.
