Dennis Hauger, highlighted in the post-race Press Conference, that overtaking was almost impossible, in the FIA Formula 2 Sprint Race, at the Emilia-Romagna circuit.
“I think it was really hard to overtake to be honest. Especially in Sector 3 and going out onto the main straight.”
The Norwegian is happy with his race starts but has reflected on his need to manage his tyres more efficiently if he wants to improve his finishes:
“I got a good start, and from then on, I think I was a bit too keen to go forward and I started dropping a bit.”
Hauger stayed within a few seconds of his PREMA team mate, Jehan Daruvala, but couldn’t improve. He still earned himself an impressive third place today. A result that will most definitely contribute to his 2022 Championship campaign:
“It’s a good starting point for tomorrow. I start in P5 and knowing everything works, I just have to have a bit more knowledge about everything, but it felt pretty good overall.”
Acknowledging the historic old school circuit, at Imola, Hauger considered his Sprint Race experience, so that improvements for Sunday’s Feature Race could be applied:
“I think it’s really hard to get around here. It’s a technical track, and it’s just about being patient. Obviously get as a good a start as possible, like today, and then take it from there.
“Anything can happen. It’s just about remaining calm. We managed pretty well today, so hopefully we can get a few steps further up tomorrow.“
