Hauger Praises Feeling of Car Around Spielberg

Dennis Hauger secured pole position for Sunday’s Feature Race with a spectacular lap, pipping AIX Racing’s Joshua Durksen to pole position by seven thousands of a second.

The MP Motorsport driver will be hoping to convert his one lap effort into a Feature Race victory after a pointless outing in Barcelona and a difficult run of form where he has only scored 15 points in the last three rounds.

As one of the more experienced drivers in the Formula 2 field with 66 starts to his name going into Round 7, Hauger discussed how this year’s cars are slightly slower around this layout compared to his previous two visits to this circuit in the category, correlating with other circuits so far this season.

“In terms of feeling, I think the new cars are nice to drive in terms of how it feels and how it is naturally compared to last year’s cars. But overall, in terms of lap time, it is actually a bit slower.”

This doesn’t appear to be a concern for Hauger though, who seems to be relishing the challenge of optimising set up to maximise performance to continue putting the pressure on his fellow title contenders.

“It doesn’t change much, it is still quite similar to last year’s car with a few changes. It is more in terms of balance and set up. I think we have to work around it to find the window where we want to be.”

As one of twelve drivers who have raced Formula 2 machinery around Spielberg, the Norwegian driver will be looking to utilise his experience to turn his pole position into his second victory of the season when the lights go out on Sunday.
