Hauger Ready to ‘Refocus’ After Baku

Dennis Hauger left Baku ready to focus on the next FIA Formula 2 round in Imola after losing win in Baku Sprint.

He showed a lot of pace in his MP Motorsport and managed to score points in the Feature Race, finishing sixth.

“Qualifying was good. Really good pace in the first set but didn’t quite manage to get the last bit out in the second set. Still happy with it and it was a place to fight from.”

He led the Sprint Race for the majority after incidents on the first lap between the leading pair. This was until a crash into Turn 1 lost him P1 in the closing stages of the race.

“Had an amazing first lap in Race 1, led all race but struggled a bit to really have the pace. But on the second Safety Car restart I just couldn’t get my front temps in for Turn 1 and went straight going into the corner.”

“A shame and a loss of points but lots of people ended up doing the same mistake so just have to refocus from there.”

Hauger started the Feature Race in fifth, ahead of his team mate, Jehan Daruvala. ART’s Victor Martins was disqualified from the race due to a technical infringement after finishing fourth, meaning Hauger picked up eight points on Sunday.

“Sunday was a hard one, just didn’t have the pace and managed to snatch P6 after penalties but still not where we want to be in race pace so will keep working with the team from here.”

“Everything can change in one good weekend so we will keep our heads up and stay confident in ourselves.”
