Hitech GP had a mixed weekend during the first round at Silverstone but look forward to a new weekend at their home track.
Nikita Mazepin claimed his first Formula 2 win, the second for the team in their first year in the series.
He claimed a dominant first win beating second-place driver Guanyu Zhou by over five seconds. The Russian driver than managed to claim positions in the sprint race to claim another few points.
Mazepin now sits in fourth in the driver’s championship and will hope this weekend he can carry on his excellent run of form in the second of two weekends at the British track.
Nikita Mazepin said: “Last weekend was a positive weekend for us in my maiden F2 victory and a second race win for the team. We know which areas we have to improve, and so far, we have managed to tick all the boxes slowly and keep pushing. Going into this weekend, we are looking forward to a second home race, I enjoyed Silverstone so let’s see what we can do.”
Meanwhile, Luca Ghiotto suffered from problems and seemed off the pace all weekend. He didn’t manage to score any points, despite scoring a win in the sprint race in Hungary.
The Italian will hope that a second weekend at Silverstone will help him get back into the fight for the championship as he currently sits down in 12th.
Luca Ghiotto said: “It wasn’t the best of weekends for us. We had plenty of technical issues, but Nikita proved the car is good on this track, so hopefully I can have a good weekend as well. Silverstone is one of my favourites on the calendar, so I hope we can score a win or podium for the team in their second home race.”
Both drivers will be hoping to add more trophies to the team’s cabinet as Hitech carry on a great debut season in Silverstone this weekend.
