After an almost two month hiatus due to multiple cancellations caused by ongoing conflicts in the Middle East, Formula 2 returns for the second round of the 2026 Season.
The all-new North American leg of the 10th modern FIA Formula 2 Championship welcomes two new venues for the 22-car pack to make a bold impact and create history: Miami and Montreal.
Home-hero and 2026 rookie Colton Herta will be looking to impress, and holds a potential advantage in terms of experience, as the IndyCar star will make his FP1 debut – his first of four sessions as part of his role of being a Cadillac test driver.
Though, adapting and moving between Formula 2 and Formula 1 can be vastly difficult, as proven on many occasions after drivers have stepped up to F1 during an F2 weekend.
Another 2026 rookie excited to take on the challenge of the Miami circuit is Thailand’s Tasanapol ‘Tern’ Inthraphuvasak, who is looking to continue his good form after taking an impressive fourth and sixth place in the Australian Sprint and Feature Races.
Now sitting fifth in the drivers’ championship with 13 points, a strong weekend could see him sit comfortably at the top of the table.
“I think there should be some good overtaking opportunities into Turn 1, Turn 11 and 17 at the end of very long straights with the DRS zones, so I think racing should be really good.”
Though, despite the endless overtaking opportunities presented across the 5.412km circuit, track evolution also poses a major influence to the results of each session, as the circuit can change drastically between events, and with the amount of racing series present this will ultimately make the effect even greater.
But, despite this, the 20-year old believes that overall, “The track will produce some great racing”, and that “The atmosphere there will be really special, so I can’t wait.”
