Thai racer Tasanapol Inthraphuvasak said his maiden podium in Formula 2 “feels really good” after a strong second place finish in the Spa-Francorchamps Feature Race.
The start of the season hadn’t quite gone to plan for the Thai, with a qualifying accident ruling him out of the Canadian Grand Prix weekend, and no points collected between Round 2 in Miami and Round 5 in Barcelona.
But he admitted that he and Campos “have been on it since [the] Red Bull Ring” – and the progress is evident through his first podium finish, alongside two further top 5 finishes, and a front row qualifying for the Belgian Grand Prix.

Describing the Sunday track action, Inthraphuvasak stated that “it was a messy race overall with the red flags”. The race halted on Lap 10 after Laurens Van Hoepen’s Trident car crashed into the barriers at Malmedy corner.
This caused the race to run to time instead of laps, and majorly favoured the cars who’d pit early from the softer compound tyres – one of which was Inthraphuvasak.
It left the lead pack having to fight through cars who’d yet to pit, but the Thai driver thrived amongst the challenging conditions, coming home in third place on the road.
However, a track limits penalty for Rodin’s Alex Dunne vaulted Inthraphuvasak up to P2, the first time since 2018 that a Thai driver had finished on a Formula 2 podium.

The ART Grand Prix driver joked after his finish that “it’s been a long time since I had champagne!”
In fact, it had been nearly eleven months, his last podium coming at the Monza Formula 3 Round the previous September. But despite the wait, he was still “happy to be standing on the podium” once again.
Looking towards the future, the Thai’s claimed that a win is “for sure” on the cards, and that it is his goal for his maiden campaign in the series.
But otherwise, “the approach every weekend continues to stay the same” for the rookie, to build his confidence in order to further his career. And already, he’s credited the leaps forward, claiming that he’s “starting to be fighting at the front” already.
He and the team have vowed that “we’ll continue to push forward” – and with another Formula 2 race weekend coming up this weekend at the Hungaroring, it might only be a matter of days before his maiden win comes along.
