For the FIA Formula 2 rookie, Ayumu Iwasa, the weekend proved to be difficult running. His drive has been impressive in the first half of the season but at Spa, he struggled during qualifying.
“Basically it was quite a difficult weekend for me,” the Japanese looked back at the events. “Just for the Feature Race I could manage a minimum recovery in the race and I got some points for P8 which was good.
However, Ayumu insists that there were plenty of positives to take from the weekend. “Actually through the weekend, I had a lot of improvements with my driving. Also in this time the car lost a little bit of speed, in Qualifying especially.
“Free Practice was good, P3. The two races were quite good as well, just we missed the speed in Quali.”
Stressing that he needs on to focus on qualifying he said, “There were some reasons for that but on my side I was making improvements. We need to improve Qualifying in the coming weekends but in the races we are strong so I have good confidence for Zandvoort.”
He concluded that Spa is a difficult track for everyone but also a special one. Closing his thoughts, he said that will work and do his best to improve.
