Andretti Global confirmed on Wednesday (June 26) that Jak Crawford and Frederik Vesti will take part in the official Formula E Rookie Test, scheduled for July 14 at the Tempelhof Airport Street Circuit in Berlin. The test will take place the day after the Berlin E-Prix doubleheader, which counts as Rounds 13 and 14 of Season 11 of the all-electric championship.
This will mark Crawford’s third outing in the Andretti Porsche 99X Electric, as he continues his role as the team’s Reserve and Development Driver. The American has already shown strong performances, finishing second overall in the 2024 Berlin Rookie Test and topping the timesheets during Free Practice 0 at this year’s Jeddah E-Prix.
Joining him will be Frederik Vesti, who returns to Formula E after previously participating in the 2024 Rookie Test with Mahindra Racing. Vesti is a reserve driver for the Mercedes-AMG Petronas F1 Team and currently races in the IMSA SportsCar Championship with Cadillac Whelen. A former Formula Regional European champion and multiple race winner in Formula 2, the Danish driver brings a wealth of experience from various levels of international motorsport.
The Berlin Rookie Test is a valuable opportunity for young drivers to gain mileage in the all-electric cars and for teams to trial different setups and evaluate future driver prospects.
Crawford shared his excitement about returning to the Berlin track, where he previously achieved strong results. “I’m looking forward to getting back in the car for another outing. It feels like it hasn’t been that long ago that I was driving in Free Practice 0 in Jeddah, so I’m excited to get back out and put in some good work for the team. I really enjoyed driving the track in Berlin at last year’s Rookie Test and felt I performed well, so very much looking forward to getting some more laps under my belt.”
The test will be divided into two three-hour sessions, giving drivers substantial time on track to adapt to the car and the technical style of Formula E.
